Begin somewhere.

Progress, defined as moving towards a destination. There is quite a bit involved in it and I will try to break it down here. The first step is knowing what you want to do, this is crucial. If you don't know what you want, you end up losing. Why? Well there has to be a reason for being somewhere, find a reason to justify you being there.
The next bit after finding your reason is observing. You need to observe what it is that you are interested in learning, how people who have been in that field work around something. So observe, but someone who has been doing something for years has both practical and theoretical knowledge, so observe and read about it. The third part is doing it, there are a number of fears associated with doing the unknown. That is why you find out what you need to learn, then you observe and then you read about it to get some idea how you can do it safely. All these things would account for perhaps a quarter of the full task. The majority of the chunk, say somewhere between half is dependent on you doing it. And the remaining quarter is focused on refining.
Knowing what you want, observing, learning about it , doing it and refining it. Those are the steps.
What really makes the difference is doing and refining. The theory can only help to a certain percentage and if you don't practice and find ways that you can refine it, then you are not making things happen the right way for you.
Working in a new environment comes with a different set of stress, the best thing you can do is to find ways that can help you to stay motivated towards learning. The most rewarding way in the beginning is to cherish the little victories that you will have in your journey, these little joys add up collectively and help you to stay focused. But there will be days when you won't be successful, somedays it just won't come to you and somedays everything will flow smoothly. The key is not to let either of the two extremes influence you to a level that will make you either fly too high or hit rock bottom. Everyone makes mistakes, the best approach to life is to learn from them and not to repeat them.
Sometimes we just need to make decisions that sound tough in the beginning just for the sake of taking a stand and starting off someplace. It is better to start, and to fail and then to try again rather than to simply not starting ever.
Start someplace, accept that you will fail at some point and stay focused on getting there.
