Corona Pandemic, materialism and Ramadan

One year ago, I was just starting my housejob and now its about to end. In this one year, did something change? Yes!
The corona pandemic has changed the outlook of the everyday life, in the month of Ramadan, the streets would be packed with people trying to buy pakorae, samosae and jaleebis. But now, the roads are deserted, there are just a handful number of cars on the roads near the iftaar time.
I would say that its a pleasure to drive on the empty roads, with no traffic congestion boiling your blood as the clock ticks away and you're still stuck in that very spot for the last ten minutes.
The hospitals are a different story altogether, but if I'm honest this pandemic has taught me one thing, we can live with a lot less than what we used to but we cannot live without friends, love and compassion.
This situation uncovered the mismanagement in the society which was surviving under the veil of materialism. Necessities are only but few, we just seem to buy whatever is packed in the colorful boxes. Running after materialism, we forget what are the essentials and then as we go into the distance suddenly there's this feeling of being empty on the inside.
There's is a sign board near the principal's office, it reads "give respect get respect", the first thing which I learn in my practical life. This goes a long way, and it can make a lot of things possible for you. Where there is a competition, you won't find friends instead what you will find are opportunistic people; it is up to you how you decide to deal with them. Having a good working relationship will sort out a lot of things for you. and as Harry Woolf says in an episode of Life on Mars season 2, "you don't know me from Adam" Never blindly trust anyone cause you don't completely know them.
