The power of writing.

Why do I write these blog posts? Maybe I want to rant, maybe I want someone to read what I think or maybe it just makes me feel better to finally put what I had in my mind onto a paper, a screen or on a medium where its not just me who can know about it.
I saw a video today, some of you might have heard about him, Dandapani. He talks about the power of writing, transferring something from your subconscious mind into the conscious one, so something was hidden in your thinking is now transferred into your active thinking, you get to relive it and then you're writing about it and finally it is transferred onto a piece of paper or your screen. It can't escape your memory but it is finally out of your subconscious mind so you don't have that anxiety or stress building up inside of you.
The same thing happens when you go to a counselor, a mental health counselor or a psychologist, you talk and bring out the things hidden in your mind. Now why doesn't this happen with your friends, first of all, there's this element of confidentiality with a health care provider and you have faith in them that they won't judge you or reveal your information to anyone and by the law they are bound to protect confidentiality. Second, you just don't know if you should trust your friends that much. Third, they put you in a place where you are the only one that matters, in most of the friendships that usually doesn't happen. People don't understand these things that if someone opens up, they need to let them flow and flow till they have talked about everything they wanted to.
Be brave to be there for someone, be brave to talk to someone, be brave to be the difference in someone's life.
I have to work on my skills as well since this is an essential skill to have in this world; especially when you are a doctor or even if you're not a doctor every human being has so many roles, Being a parent, a brother or a sister, a friend, a teacher, a boss, a colleague, a leader, someone significant, the list goes on and on. With so many roles, its good if you know how to let someone open up, but once they open up, you have to protect what they reveal to you (unless its something that would endanger the lives of the others around, then it is your duty to inform the authorities and get proper help), be there for them and guide them. You just point them in the right direction, if they need professional help you talk about that and help them get it, if they just need a friend who'd listen you do that.
