The Change Series: Part 2

Acknowledging the changes taking place in your life.

Have you thought about how life would be if there was no change, the sun would set and rise at the same time, rain on a set day and more. Apply that to yourself now. What a boring and unrewarding life it would be!

All your life laid down on a certain timetable. A lot of us would not be able to keep up with that.

So the next time you hear someone say that I haven't changed, ask them if they did everything in the exact same way?

They would not be able to repeat the same sentence with confidence again. Change is always a part of life, sometime it is clearly evident and sometimes it is subtle, but it results in something being different from the way it used to be. Of course, somethings are just the way they are. For example, fixing a fracture or replacing a lightbulb. You remove the old lightbulb and plug in a new one, you can go for a LED one instead of a traditional lightbulb.

Fixing a fracture, you have to reduce the fragments to their correct anatomical detail, you can use a number of different measures for that, you are changing things sometimes drastically and sometimes  subtly.

If I am adamant on changing the lightbulb in a certain way and using a certain brand, I may not always be making the smarter choice. The lightbulbs made 40 years ago had different illumination and different power consumption than the lightbulbs of today.
Reducing a fracture, after years of surgeries and analysis sometimes it becomes clear that a certain approach does not have the best result, so this approach would gradually disappear from the guidelines or would not be preferred.

We adapt ourselves according to the conditions that surround us, and in doing so we change ourselves. The first step is acknowledging that changes are going to be there, and that change is a necessity. Once you acknowledge it only then you can go on to understand what the change is and what will be its result, both direct and indirect. At times, acknowledging that the change is inevitable is tough, because you are used to the idea of something being done in a certain way. Once you think about changing the way something goes about, you feel uncomfortable because there is uncertainty. This feeling can be mitigated by acknowledging that a change is fundamental, and also by believing in yourself that yes, you can make it through. If you don't make it through at the first time, you will find out how to improve and that is equally important. Provided that you give it the due acknowledgment that a change deserve
