Learning, creativity and application.
I was scrolling through Facebook and there was this video about the school system, after watching it all I realized how accurately he had described the pattern, making robots and focusing on competition. In medical school, all that school emphasized craze on grades, scores and competition just accelerates, people start to memorize things, you ask about what is the clinical features and they'll name this, this, this and that, but most of them don't know "Why" is it there. Now we don't focus on that "Why" and the society produces robots and robots without the thinking capacity, some time ago I told myself that I don't wanna be the doctor who can't satisfy the curiosity of his patients and in the long run of his students.
You sit there, moving back and forth, mumbling, swaying your head and spend hours and hours just to memorize and get those numbers which credit you with excellence while life is never about numbers, focusing life around a set pattern, most of the teachers walk in to the classroom with the same motivation as before delivers the lecture in the same tone to the same crowd, the majority is asleep or busy in their own chit chats or on their own smartphones, sometimes I ask myself that what are we producing, people will say just get through, yeah get through and live a monotonous life, where creativity is restricted, imagination is like a caged bird, happiness and satisfaction is deduced on a scale which measures your success, earnings and possessions.
Rather than memorization, learn by creativity, imagine the scenario and visualize in your mind about how, what and why would you adopt a strategy, your imagination will help you understand better than the pages you spend so much time memorizing.
If you are to teach someone, just know that there are different learning styles, rather than taking a unidirectional approach, make it fun by incorporating different pictures, animations, videos, give your students the chance to role play with the topics, make their learning fun and creative rather than dull and boring. Everyone can read lecture slides and pages of books, give something which differentiates you from the rest of the teachers, educators, doctors, mentors, parents and make life colorful and joyful rather than a black and white picture.
